Job Description

In a variety of settings, finds patients' orders, collects patients' specimens, orders patients' testing. Additonally, performs EKG testing. Performs clerical duties as assigned. Provides for a positive experience for patients.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

Required:

High School graduate or GED

Preferred:

Education in Phlebotomy techniques

LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION

Required:

CPR with American Heart Association as a Healthcare Provider within 6 months of hire

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

80% Time Spent -
Collecting blood specimens via venipuncture in a variety of in- and out-patient settings.

10% Time Spent -
Findings orders, receiving specimens and other computer record housekeeping

10% Time Spent -
Performing EKGs

Additional Functions - Stroke Competency:
Complies with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines related to care for patients with hyperacute and acute stroke.
Completes required stroke compentency check list or chart review annually.
Participates in two hours of initial cerebrovascular disease (stroke) education by November 1, 2018, or within one year of hire.
Participates in one hour annually of cerebrovascular disease (stroke) education.
