To perform clerical duties in an outpatient clinic and provide assistance to the nurse supervisor and/or nurse staff, with the goal of increasing clinic efficiency, provider productivity, and patient satisfaction. To perform uncomplicated nursing tasks under the supervision and training of the nurse, nurse supervisor or clinic manager.
To prepare patients for their appointments with providers.To prepare patients for their exams with providers or escort patients to the infusion area
High School Diploma
Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Training
LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION
Certified Medical Assistant or CNA
Experience working with protected health information
Two years medical/clinical office experience
5% Time Spent - Fax/phone/mail prescription refills and medical record reports.
10% Time Spent - Restock exam rooms and infusion area with medical supplies and other forms needed for patient care. Clean exam rooms and infusion area chairs as needed.
5% Time Spent - Assist with medical and nursing procedures under the direction of the oncology nurse
25% Time Spent - Escort patients to infusion area providing pharmacy with completed infusion orders.
50% Time Spent - Room patients obtaining necessary information including medication lists, allergies, height and weight, vital signs and current illness/injury symptoms and documenting in the paper chart or electronic health record.
5% Time Spent - File reports in patient charts, print patient handouts/educational materials as requested, arrange hospital admission for patient as directed by oncology nurse, transport stable patients within the hospital buildings, manage supply of forms for clinic and infusion area, assist medical record staff, assist with special projects as requested by manager or supervisor.Make informational phone calls/callbacks to patients on direction and guidance of provider or oncology nurse.
