House Supervisor provides leadership, coordination and integration of healthcare services and supervises safety, service and quality of care
This position has responsibility for the management of patient care provided by department personnel in assigned area. This position assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care of the departmental patients in order to ensure that patients and families receive an optimum level of care.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION
RN current in the state of Montana; BLS; ACLS
3 years (minimum) of experience in an acute care setting.
5 years clinical nursing experience; previous supervisory/management experience
50% Time Spent - SUPERVISES SERVICE AND QUALITY OF CARE
Coordinates admission and transfer of patients appropriately applying InterQual criteria
Makes rounds on all nursing units and assists with activities related to patient care
Arranges for emergency surgery
Interprets and follows hospital policies and procedures
Promotes intra-departmental cooperation
Provides services of other departments in their absence
Trained to follow protocol for organ donation
Assigns unit staffing and assesses/monitors unit based productivity
50% Time Spent - LEADERSHIP
Promotes the goals and philosophy of Bozeman Deaconess Health Services
Acts as leader, role model, mentor and innovator
Promotes team building
Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive attitude as well as a calm environment
In absence of Administration, serves as spokesperson for Bozeman Deaconess Hospital and functions as the Incident Command during a Mass Casualty Incident
Other Duties Assigned - REPRESENTS DEPARTMENT MANAGER IN OFF-DUTY PERIODS
Monitors unit activities
Responds to customer concerns that cannot be resolved by the charge nurse/department staff
Assures adequate staffing with knowledge of patient needs and unit standards
Acts as liaison between physician and patient care team
Activates medical staff chain of command when indicated
Exercises authority for staff disciplinary action as needed

Other Duties Assigned - Stroke Competency:
Complies with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines related to care for patients with hyperacute and acute stroke.
Participates in two hours of initial cerebrovascular disease (stroke) education by November 1, 2018, or within one year of hire.
Participates in one hour annually of cerebrovascular disease (stroke) education.
