Perform clinical duties in an ambulatory setting. Provide assistance to the nurse staff with the goal of increasing efficiency, provider productivity, and patient satisfaction. To perform uncomplicated tasks under direct supervision of a work area nurse, including but not limited to patient care; transport stable patients within the facility; order medical supplies and medications; assist nurses with scheduling appointments, processing referrals, and pre-visit planning.
High school diploma / GED
Courses in Medical Terminology
Nurse Aid training or graduate of medical assistant program without certification completed or graduate of EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) course
LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION
CPR - through the American Heart Association as a Health Care Provider
Experience in Customer service
Experience working with protected health information and electronic health records
Two or more years medical/clinical office experience

Fax/phone/mail prescriptions,forms and medical record reports
Collects patient information. Obtains and records vital signs : weight, height, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure. Reports findings to provider or RN and records appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
Performs chart review/pre-visit planning prior to clinic visit.
Produce and manage schedule tracking and referral reports. Assist Care Coordinator Nurses as directed
Produce and mail annual appointment paperwork; order labs for pre-visit planning according to guidelines or protocols; Schedule patient appointments, referrals, procedures and tests.
Order drugs, medical supplies and vaccines for clinic; process all vaccines orders (stock & VFC as needed); assist with vendor requests/coupons/samples as needed;
Coordinate prescription assistance program and pre and prior authorizations for clinic patients
Manage various clinic specific programs
Process immunization record requests, fill out CDC Surveys, Day Care forms, school requests.
