Job Description

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) coordinator works as an integral member of the surgical team providing care for the patient during the peri-operative period. The CST Coordinaotr will have an acquired knowledge of the types of procedures performed in this department and will be familiar with the correct application of the instruments used plus how to clean and care for the instruments. The CST Coordinator will have knowledge of medications used during the intra-operative period. Through proper planning and guidance using physician work sheets/pick list the CST Coordinator will arrange the instrumentation in such a manner as to achieve maximum efficiency during an operative procedure, anticipating the needs of the surgeon, maintaining the integrity of the sterile field, and participating in all needed counts. CST Coordinator works under the direction and supervision of the surgeon and in accordance with hospital policy and appropriate laws and regulations. While functioning in the CST Coordinator role provides aid in exposure hemostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out safe operations with optimal results for the patients.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

Required:

Holds and maintains current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Preferred:

N/A

LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION

Required:

CST
BLS
Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) Certifications or obtain within 2 months of hire

Preferred:

N/A

EXPERIENCE

Required:

Minimum 3 years experience as a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room with Robotic Experience
Minimum of three (3) years experience in scrub as a Surgical Technologist in the perioperative role.

Preferred:

Robotic Experience is preferred
